corny
corny是「陳腔濫調、無新意」，例如：
The boss gets too corny when she talks to the workers.（老闆每次跟員工說話都是陳腔濫調。）
I know this sounds corny, but I'm really not motivated by money.（道這聽起來像老生常談，但我真的不是為了錢。）
She has an endless supply of corny jokes.（她有說不完的老掉牙笑話。）
The movie was just so corny that I had to leave before it finished.（這部電影毫無新意，我忍不住在電影沒放完就離開。）
introvert、 wallflower
學校的迎新送舊或聚餐時，大概會看到兩種鮮明的對比個性，一種人的個性內向（introvert），另一種人的個性外向（extrovert）。
例如：
That young man is an introvert.（那個年輕人是一個性格內向的人。）
The students here are a very introvert lot.（這裡的學生都非常不愛交際。）
Unlike her brother Robert, she is an introvert, isn't she？（她很內向，不像他的哥哥羅勃，不是嗎？）
Introvert不一定是因為個性害羞的而不喜社交，他們享受獨處的時光，他們喜歡思考，覺得與人群相處會大量地把他們的能量消耗，而這時他們必須離開群眾，回到一個人的空間來重新補充能量。所以會被當成「壁花」（wallflower）。
例如：She was something of a wallflower; she was terribly shy.（她算是朵壁花，因為她無比害羞。）
perk
perk是「優勢、變好」，通常會以 the perks of something 的形式出現，例如：
One of the perks of living in Taipei is that shops open until late at night.（住在台北的好處之一就是有到很晚才打烊的店。）
Psychological twists perk up the corny story line.（心理轉折使原本老套的故事情節，變得生動有趣。）
He perks up a dark kitchen with a coat of paint.（他用油漆把原本昏暗的廚房變得明亮。）
House prices are expected to perk up.（房價預估將會上漲。）
A shower would soon perk you up.（沖個澡會讓妳精神變好。）
