Xiang Yun Temple “One Book a Month” Study Group — Starlight Clouds and Water: Seventy Years of Serving the Master
Reported by Reporter Xixiu, The Life News Agency
At 2 p.m. on March 27, Xiang Yun Temple held its "One Book a Month" study group session, attended by 10 participants. During the session, Venerable Jueji (the temple supervisor), Sister Huiling Xie, and Sister Jun Chen led the group in sharing their reflections on the book Starlight Clouds and Water: Seventy Years of Serving the Master, an interview compilation featuring Elder Venerable Tzu-huei of Fo Guang Shan.
Sister Jun Chen, a new devotee, expressed that the book’s introduction to Fo Guang Shan’s Four Tenets and Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s approach to applying modern technology in Dharma deeply inspired her. She vowed to become a volunteer and serve the public.
Sister Huiling Xie introduced Chapter Nine, which highlights Elder Venerable Tzu-huei’s wisdom and talent in translation—effectively conveying the Master’s teachings and spiritual essence. She also noted that the book helped her more deeply understand the saying, “Where there is Dharma, there is a way.”
Venerable Jueji concluded by emphasizing the significant impact Elder Venerable Tzu-huei’s translation work has had on the localization of Buddhism. She encouraged everyone to study the Buddha’s teachings and doctrines, internalize the Master’s thoughts, carry on the wisdom, and practice the Dharma.
This study group helped participants gain a deeper understanding of Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s ideals of spreading the Dharma and also inspired greater faith and enthusiasm in their own Buddhist practice.
