On June 15, Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto Chinese School held its 2024–2025 year-end graduation ceremony, celebrating students’ achievements in language and character development. Nearly 200 students, parents, teachers, and devotees gathered for the occasion, which featured poetry recitations, musical performances, and cultural presentations that reflected the students’ growth in Chinese language learning and their practice of the Three Acts of Goodness.

Venerable Zhi Guan, Superintendent of Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto, expressed gratitude to the teachers and community for their ongoing support. She emphasized that in a multicultural country like Canada, language serves as a bridge between cultures, and learning Chinese not only strengthens communication skills but also cultivates deeper moral and cultural understanding.

Founded in 1998, the school integrates Humanistic Buddhist values into its curriculum, guided by the principles of the Three Acts of Goodness and Four Givings. Under the leadership of Director of Academic Affairs Liu Hong, nearly 20 volunteer teachers create dynamic and engaging lessons using games, calligraphy, songs, poetry, and art.

A highlight of the ceremony was a video retrospective showcasing memorable classroom moments and students’ growth in character and communication. A newly introduced “Birthday Gratitude Card” encouraged students to express appreciation to their parents on their birthdays.

Student performances included the kindergarten class reciting Thoughts on a Tranquil Night, the beginner class presenting A Good Season, and intermediate and advanced students jointly reciting Young China’s Manifesto. The conversation class added energy to the event with a cheerful dance titled I Love Happiness.

Graduation certificates and awards were presented, including Most Improved, Diligent Study, and the Three Acts of Goodness Award, which recognized students for their punctuality, cooperative spirit, and virtuous conduct.

Parents praised the program for fostering both learning and personal development. “We were deeply moved,” shared the family of student Kangchen Chu. “Our heartfelt thanks go to the teachers for their dedication and care.”
