Siddhartha Training Program Showcase Prepares Talents for Siddhartha Musical

Fo Guang Shan Chu Un Temple hosted the Third Batch Voice Class Showcase of the Siddhartha Training Program on August 2. Guided by vocal coach Clresa Monceda, 18 trainees presented a well-prepared stage performance, marking the culmination of two months of intensive vocal training.

The participants, selected through auditions for their passion in singing and dancing, are now part of the preparatory pool of talents for the upcoming Siddhartha: The Musical.

The event opened with remarks from Ven. Zhi Rong, representing the temple, who warmly welcomed teachers, parents, and students in attendance. She emphasized that Fo Guang Shan regards music as a universal language that transcends age and borders, reaching directly into the heart. She encouraged the youth to use music as a means of self-expression, self-discovery, and healing, reminding them that what the audience sees on stage is not only performance, but also the fruit of preparation, teamwork, and dedication. “Each of you is the brightest star tonight,” she affirmed.

The concert, themed after the Broadway musical Switch Song, featured a blend of singing, creativity, and stage charisma, bringing the audience into a world of music and joy. Distinguished Cebu vocal coaches, artistic directors, and music directors were invited to observe and support the event, providing professional feedback afterward to enrich the students’ learning experience.

Nearly 80 attendees filled the venue, responding with enthusiastic applause and cheers that celebrated the growth and hard work of the young performers. Organizers expressed special gratitude to Fo Guang Shan and Ven. Yung Guang for initiating and supporting the program, making the showcase not only a performance but also a journey of inspiration and cultural legacy.
