Students Break Barriers, Families Learn Together — Ven. Yung Guang: “Let More Groups Step Into the Temple”
On November 16, 2025, the Octave Music Camp Winter Vocal Recital was successfully held at the Avalokitesvara Shrine of Chu Un Temple. Led by Claresa Monceda, the recital unfolded beautifully with voices, courage, and heartfelt emotions.
On stage, each student showcased their own breakthrough through song. They overcame nervousness, stepped beyond their limits, and filled the hall with warmth and brightness through their courage and dedication. Claresa shared, “When children dare to pursue growth, the sound of their growth transforms. Everyone today has sung their way to the next step of their musical journey.”
A touching highlight of the event was the full participation of the Deiparine family. Parents and children practiced together, stood on the same stage, and shared the joy of their hard work—perfectly embodying the power of family learning. Growing through music and connecting through companionship brought a special warmth to the recital.
Ven. Yung Guang, the Head Abbess Fo Guang Shan Philippines, encouraged everyone to view the temple as a place where families and communities can draw near. “We should create more opportunities so that different groups feel welcome to enter the temple and encounter light and goodness,” Ven. Yung Guang said. It was with this spirit that the Octave Music Camp was invited to hold its recital in the Avalokitesvara Shrine—using music as a bridge to build positive affinities and guide more people into the temple through art.
The recital concluded with resounding applause and moving melodies. Octave Music Camp looks forward to continuing its mission of accompanying each student as they bravely move forward—toward their next octave—and hopes that more community groups will find a place of growth and brightness at Chu Un Temple.
