On the morning of Jan. 20, RBT Technologies LLC (Robotees) donated 6,000 brand-new T-shirts to support families and individuals in need across Los Angeles. Distributed through Shelter Partnership, the clothing will reach multiple community shelters and service sites throughout the region.
The initiative brought together corporate, nonprofit, and Buddhist community partners, including Venerable Hui Cheng (Hsi Lai Temple Social Education and Outreach Department), Avelyn Busch (vice president of BLIA Los Angeles Chapter), Lynette King (president of Hsi Lai Subchapter), Neal Golub (member of Hsi Lai Subchapter), Min Wang (president of Rowland Heights First Subchapter), and Ching-Hua Yeh (vice president of Rowland Heights First Subchapter).
At 9:30 a.m., the Hsi Lai Temple delegation visited the Robotees factory, where administrative coordinator Sherry Pan led a tour of the production floor. The team observed the automated workflow—from printing and folding to packaging and shipping—highlighting the company’s commitment to quality control and operational efficiency. The visit concluded with a group photo to commemorate the exchange.
The delegation then traveled to Shelter Partnership’s warehouse in Bell Gardens, where warehouse manager Jerry Ayala welcomed the group and shared the organization’s history. Founded in 1992, Shelter Partnership has developed a comprehensive warehousing system that provides clothing, daily necessities, infant supplies, and furniture to meet essential community needs.
Ayala also spoke about his own service journey, from frontline operations to overseeing warehouse management, emphasizing the importance of delivering donated goods safely and on time. The Hsi Lai Temple team expressed appreciation for his long-standing dedication. Learning that the large-scale operation is maintained by a team of just four staff members, the group praised their professionalism and efficiency before concluding the visit with photos.
The donation was facilitated in part by Jennifer Marquez, product donations manager and daughter of long-time Hsi Lai Temple volunteer and yoga instructor Julie Perich, helping translate corporate resources into tangible community support. The effort reflects the spirit of Humanistic Buddhism—“To benefit society through charity”—and keeps goodwill circulating throughout the city.
