Fo Guang Shan Xiangyun Temple has continued to advance its Temple Maintenance and Facility Enhancement Plan, with the entrance and boundary signage upgrade project officially commencing on February 7. The construction team assembled at 9:00 a.m., led by Eagle Scout candidate Ethan Grigsby, who served as project manager and guided fellow Scouts and parent volunteers through two days of installation work.
Prior to construction, Ethan delivered a project briefing following the English Dharma service, outlining the design concept, workflow, and safety measures. His presentation helped build shared understanding and consensus within the community.
Over the two-day period, more than twenty Scouts and parent volunteers participated, working in coordinated teams that demonstrated strong discipline and teamwork. The new entrance sign features an aluminum panel with a dual-post structure anchored to a concrete foundation, offering enhanced stability and weather resistance. The upgrade significantly improves the temple’s visibility and recognizability, creating a welcoming and dignified first impression for visitors.
In addition, the team installed ten boundary marker signs and carried out trail maintenance, including weed removal, further enhancing safety and cleanliness across the temple grounds. Temple representatives noted that Ethan displayed remarkable leadership and organizational maturity throughout the planning and execution process. Through the combined efforts of the Scouts, families, and the temple community, the project not only strengthened physical infrastructure but also contributed to a safer, warmer, and more harmonious environment for spiritual practice.
