To promote youth education in Humanistic Buddhism, Venerable Jueji, superintendent of Austin Xiangyun Temple, together with Venerable Yongjia, planned a training program titled “A Date with the Venerable,” which officially launched on February 21. Members of the Buddha’s Light Youth Group II—including Alex, Claire, Alwin, and Olivia—participated enthusiastically, demonstrating their dedication to learning and being nurtured by the Dharma.

The curriculum includes Buddhist chanting, practice with ritual instruments, Humanistic Buddhist songs, and the Three Acts of Goodness Movement. It also incorporates a “Little Tea Master” tea ceremony experience. Centered on the principles of “Do Good Deeds, Speak Good Words, Think Good Thoughts,” Venerable Yongjia guided students to cultivate mindfulness and compassion, encouraging them to apply the Dharma in daily life and to discipline body, speech, and mind.

During the tea ceremony class, students practiced serving and offering tea, experiencing focus and reverence while appreciating the serenity of “Chan and tea as one flavor.” Student Haoyu remarked that the course was rich and inspiring, and parents also expressed gratitude for the Venerables’ dedicated guidance. The program concluded with everyone reciting together, “Do Good Deeds, Speak Good Words, Think Good Thoughts.” Filled with Dharma joy, the event came to a successful close, reflecting the educational outcome of Humanistic Buddhism in nurturing the heart and mind.
