World Bread Day Celebration in Mabuhay Temple

Representatives from the Filipino Chinese Bakery Association Inc (FCBAI), Philippine Society of Baking (PSB) and Philippine Foremost Milling Corporation (PFMC) arrived at the Temple today, October 12, 2024 and donated 200 pieces of loaves of bread in celebration of the World Bread Day. The group of around 30 people was headed by the FCBAI President Christopher Ah, PSB President Kristine Mateo and US Wheat Association Asst Regional Director Joe Bippert. The group was welcomed by Ven Zhi Pu and other devotees who received the donation in behalf of Mabuhay Temple.

The distribution of loaves of bread by these organizations is done annually every October as a way to celebrate the World Bread Day during the month of October and they do the distribution nationwide. FGS Mabuhay Temple has always been a beneficiary of the annual giving.

The visitors were ushered to the Main Shrine and were taught to do the light offering and were asked to pick from the bowl, the words of wisdom written by Ven Master Hsing Yun. Ven Zhi Pu explained that light offering symbolizes the cultivation of the mind to acquire wisdom. Further, she explained that as human beings, our mind is full of unwholesome thoughts, and the light inspires us to be diligent in order to dispel the darkness inside and show forth the light within us for others to see.

After giving a brief background on Humanistic Buddhism, Ven Zhi Pu also requested three people to read aloud the words of wisdom they picked and expounded briefly about it. Moreover, she said that their act of giving is in line with the Three Acts of Goodness which the temple advocates nationwide.

After the photo op and exchange of pleasantries, the group left bringing with them the words of wisdom of Ven Master Hsing Yun.
