索馬利亞旱災奪4.3萬命 半數不滿5歲

【本報綜合外電報導】根據英國倫敦大學衛生暨熱帶醫學院（London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine）研究人員首次估算，索馬利亞去年因嚴重乾旱而喪命人數多達4萬3000人，其中半數是5歲以下的兒童。此次危機可能比索馬利亞在2017年到2018年間的大旱災還嚴重。

研究報告指出，2023年上半年，死亡率可能還會上升，預料死亡總數會在1萬8100人到3萬4200人之間。

聯合國表示，儘管去年索馬利亞部分地區逃過饑荒，但在連續5個雨季都沒有讓索馬利亞「解渴」後，當地1700萬人口中，有半數急需援助。

聯合國兒童基金會（UNICEF）代表薩伊德表示，這些結果顯示乾旱對兒童及其家庭造成的破壞情況有多嚴峻。

為判斷糧食危機嚴重程度而制定全球標準的「糧食安全階段綜合分類」（Integrated Food Security Phase Classification），去年12月就提到，雖暫時避免了饑荒，但情況正在惡化。
