【本報綜合外電報導】聯合國衛生機構於2日時，推薦廣泛使用新型兒童抗瘧疾疫苗，這款新疫苗不僅能填補巨大供應缺口，還可以拯救數10萬人的生命。法新社報導，非洲地區每年有近50萬名兒童死於這種由攜帶致病寄生蟲蚊子引起的疾病。世界衛生組織（WHO）祕書長譚德塞（Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus）表示：「身為瘧疾研究人員，我曾經夢想有朝一日我們能研製出一種安全有效的瘧疾疫苗，現在我們有了2種疫苗。」由英國牛津大學（Oxford University）研發、印度血清研究所（Serum Institute of India）生產的R21/Matrix-M疫苗已獲准在布吉納法索、迦納和奈及利亞使用。2021年，英國製藥大廠葛蘭素史克藥廠（GSK）生產的另一款疫苗RTS,S成為世衛第一個推薦廣泛使用的抗瘧疾疫苗，目前已為逾百萬名非洲兒童接種。據報導，全球近半人口生活在瘧疾高風險地區，其中絕大多數病例和死亡案例都發生在非洲。
