為透過數位工具縮短城鄉差距、讓弱勢學生不成為資訊文盲，涂一園二○○三年起開始自掏腰包、贈送弱勢學童數位相機及電腦，藉此賦予他們看到世界的另一雙眼睛，有學生因而培養出對資訊科技的興趣，甚至進一步考上資訊研究所。

不只如此，他還用休假日借用宮廟作為教學場地，無償為學生輔導課業，幫助學習進度落後的孩子後來居上，找回學習自信，涂一園的投入與愛心令人聞之動容。

「每當看到孩子的人生有正向改變時，對我來說這就是無價的回饋與收穫。」在學校教了三十三個年頭，讓他體會當老師是件幸福又有價值的事，未來會繼續在教學路上努力耕耘，用心教育每個孩子。文／記者羅智華
