【本報綜合外電報導】路透報導，美國佛羅里達州州長德桑提斯二十四日晚間（台灣時間二十五日早上）將宣布爭取共和黨二○二四年總統大選提名。新冠疫情期間，德桑提斯抵抗封鎖政策，在佛州炒作引發兩極化反應的文化議題，受到保守派選民高度喜愛；德桑提斯正式加入戰局，將在共和黨內與前總統川普形成對決態勢。

德桑提斯團隊證實，他二十四日將在推特與推特執行長、科技富豪馬斯克對話時宣布參選，並向聯邦選舉委員會遞交參選文件。馬斯克二十三日參加《華爾街日報》在倫敦舉辦的執行長理事會峰會時表示，將在德桑提斯宣布參選時現身，但強調並不是為他背書。

二○二二年十一月，德桑提斯贏得州長連任選舉。他是共和黨內迅速走紅的政治明星。
