【本報綜合外電報】瓜地馬拉檢察官辦公室8日指出，反貪腐候選人阿雷巴洛（Bernardo Arevalo）獲勝的選舉「無效」。法新社報導，檢察官莫拉萊斯（Leonor Morales）告訴記者，調查顯示第一輪最終計票涉嫌行政違規，這次選舉投票「無效」。總部位於華盛頓的美洲國家組織（Organization of American States），8日猛烈抨擊其所謂的瓜地馬拉「未遂政變」，並促司法部門停止尋求廢除總統大選結果。美洲國家組織指出，8月20日總統大選決選，阿雷巴洛勝出，但選後政敵的激烈鬥爭使他的勝利蒙上陰影。
