起初他在社會上是個外圍的游離分子，未能向核心靠近，嘗試過了幾種行業，但總是抓不到重點、尋不著方向，最後依照自己的接受度與體型，把自己定位於鐵工。他的生命跟這個社會的鏈結，因鐵工而被穩固地建立起來，也從冰冷的金屬掙得自身的溫飽。

善用金屬品來完成工作，個性因此也受到了金屬的影響而被定型了：講話的聲音鏗鏘有力，似他用槌子敲擊金屬時所發出的，而直率的性格也易於得罪他人。

多年的現場工作以後，他擁有了自己的智慧結晶：做人做事，不宜只有僵硬的「原則」，猶需柔軟的「彈性」，還有，釘狀物包括螺絲釘與鐵釘，倘若它們只有尖銳的一端，便無以發揮其完整的功用，必得兼具魯鈍的另一端，始能成其功啊！
