【本報綜合外電報導】一項新研究發現，氣候變遷會讓MLB美國職棒的巨砲打擊能力更強大，MLB每年因此多50發全壘打。7日發行的《美國氣象學會公報》（Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society）刊載達特茅斯學院（Dartmouth College）科學家統計分析顯示，經對10萬場MLB比賽、過去幾年逾20萬顆場上飛球，以及天氣狀況、球場和其他因素進行分析後，得出更稀薄的空氣對2010年以來全壘打激增情況有一點貢獻的結論。美聯社報導，研究共同作者、達特茅斯學院氣候科學家曼金（Justin Mankin）指出：「全球暖化給MLB榨出全壘打。」而它的原理屬於基礎物理學，當溫度升高時，空氣分子運動速度會加快而且彼此遠離，空氣密度也隨之減小。從球棒擊出的球，在較稀薄空氣中會因為球的阻力較小而飛得更遠。少了一臂之力 恐變高飛球接殺 沒有參與上述研究的伊利諾大學（University of Illinois）物理學家奈森（Alan Nathan）說，只要稍稍助一臂之力就形成全壘打和高飛球接殺的差別。一群科學家就全壘打數增加一事向MLB諮詢，奈森是其中之一。他根據彈道學和空氣密度隨溫度變化等已知物理學進行簡單計算後，得出了跟達特茅斯學院研究人員相同結論。奈森和達特茅斯學院團隊發現，空氣每上升1℃，擊出全壘打的機會就提高1.8%。達特茅斯學院研究人員推估，平均而言，每年因為溫度升高而形成的全壘打數僅占整體全壘打數的1%。在暖化軌跡最壞的情況下，到了2050年，每年將有大約192支「暖化助攻」的全壘打，2100年將增加至467發左右。老將球場經驗 獲科學證據支持科學家和棒球老將指出，擊出全壘打有更多是非氣候因素造成的，奈森表示，其中又以球和縫線大小為最，因此2021年球季前，大聯盟進行微調以減少球的彈力。其他因素則包括打者近來關注揮棒角度、打者更有力、球速加快等。這項研究是在聲名狼藉的棒球類固醇年代，導致全壘打激增的情況之後，才開始進行。棒球老將和球隊高階主管認為，研究結果與他們的球場經驗吻合，費城費城人棒球事務總裁鄧布勞斯基（Dave Dombrowski）說：「多年以來我們一直有這種感覺，氣溫愈高的時候，球就愈會飛。現在得出科學證據來支持這項論點了。」
