穗花棋盤腳的花巧妙舞姿，通常在清晨才能見到。深夜綻放，黎明時緩緩掉落雄蕊，如雪花飄散在地上，陣陣幽香撲鼻，將紅色雌蕊留在枝頭，結成果實。

寂靜深夜裡悄悄開花，默默含情，孤芳自賞，天亮即謝去，故又被稱為一夜美人。
